While helping one of my sister’s write her Ethics paper on Emmanuel Kant: “laziness and cowardice are the reasons why such a large part of mankind gladly remain minors all their lives, long after nature has freed them from external guidance.”
Lesson learned today: Don’t let laziness and cowardice stop you from incurring the mental burdens associated with obtaining self-enlightenment. It is through our struggles in which we learn the most and develop the greatest. People never asked me about how I felt crossing the finish line after running the marathon, but rather asked me about the tumultuous course I ran in order to get there. Guess it applies to life in general: stories of struggles will always triumph over fairy tale stories of success.
Dilemmas in life.
What do I do with my belongings at the library when I have to use the restroom?
Option 1: Leave them unattended with a bunch of strangers with possibly sticky fingers who may steal all my precious belongings to try to sell it on eBay or Craigslist.
Option 2: Pack up all my stuff to bring them with me to the restroom, but then having to unpack all over again and settle back into my workstation 2 minutes later.
Annnndddd laziness prevails. I will just leave a POST-IT threatening their lives and the well being of their immediate family and cats and dogs if they try to steal my stuff.
